Growing Conditions

Our Estate vineyards were farmed using exclusively Organic techniques, no synthetic pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or fertilizers were utilized at any point in the growing season. We feel that the vines really expressed the terroir of our sites in a greater degree this vintage and are excited for all the wines that we grew.

Bottling

This wine was bottled un-fined, unfiltered and without any addition of sulfur.

Winemaking

We have an experimental planting of the Georgian grape Rkatsiteli, that fruit was foot-tread whole cluster, then fermented natively in an egg fermenter. We grow Vidal Blanc on our La Esperanza Estate vineyard, this hybrid has Trebbiano as a parent, so it seemed like a great candidate for an Orange Wine. The Vidal Blanc was sealed up whole cluster in stainless steel tanks for 3 weeks under a blanket of Co2 where it fermented to dryness on skins, a majority of the skins burst and released their juice so we got great tannin extraction before pressing. The two lots were then blended together as they really complemented each other and they proceeded to go through malo-lactic fermentation to soften the acidity.
