Nose

This mysterious and muscular French hybrid grape creates a rich flavor of cherry, smoke, and raisin, proving to be a true wine of the earth.

Palate

Our full-flavored Baco Noir grape wine shows spicy, leathery and currant flavors with big, earthy features, smokiness and a pronounced acidity.

Growing Conditions

Baco Noir is an early ripening variety and this particular vineyard is almost always the first to be picked each season. Planted at Pleasant Hill near Sutton's Bay, Michigan, in 1976, it is one of the oldest wine grape vineyards in our region. The trellises are "old-school," created by the imagination and ingenuity of the farmers who planted it.

Harvest

Due to these trellises, the mechanical harvester is not able to separate the fruit from the vine. As such, it is always hand-picked, producing one of our most unique and coveted wines.
