Palate
Vivid apple, pear, and orange peel aromatics compliment honey and petrol notes. Ageable due to its strong backbone of acidity. Polished.
Growing Conditions
2016 boasted a hot growing season in Northern Michigan. A cold, wet fall and harvest introduced a small quantity of Botrytis rot which attributes a delicious honey character to this wine.
Winemaking
The Riesling was treated fairly gently as it had a fair amount of botrytis (10%). The fermentation was long and lingering not fully complete until well into January. Fermentation stopped at 0.9 for dry balance.
Food Pairing
Spicy foods, Asian-inspired dishes, lobster, scallops, fish, and fruit dishes.
