Upon graduating Michigan State University’s Viticulture and Enology Program, Drew decided to head west to gain experience in Napa. After spending six months working in the cellars, he realized he was more interested in contributing to a new and emerging wine industry in his home state and returned to work in Northwest Michigan at Left Foot Charley in 2007. Drew took advantage of the opportunity to work with many custom crush clients, which gave him a unique understanding of many vineyard sites on the Leelanau Peninsula as well as Old Mission. He decided to take this vast experience and move to work with Simpson Family Estates managing the custom crush facility on the Leelanau Peninsula where he continues to consult with a variety of wineries on their wine production. His passion and mission is to elevate the wines on the Leelanau Peninsula and offer his clients the best of what the Peninsula can produce.
