Nose

Notes of Granny Smith apples with a citrus pithiness.

Palate

The crisp acid on the front of the palate gives way to a deceiving touch of sweetness on the finish. With minimal time on lees the flavors are clean and fruit driven.

Growing Conditions

100% Leelanau Peninsula, Fox View Vineyard, Leelanau County

Winemaking

Riesling is the calling card for the Traverse Wine Coast region. The fruit ripens well in our climate and produces a diverse array of styles of wine beyond sweet. The intention with this wine was to merge the region’s strength in producing both Rieslings and sparkling wines.

The fruit was whole cluster pressed late in the season and fermented slowly. It came to a natural stop with enough residual sugar to go through Charmat production without any additional coaxing. In the end it was balanced with residual sugar to create a dry presentation.

Whole Cluster pressed. Fermented over 2 months and stopped with natural sugars for the secondary. Charmat Method referment (aka Cuve Close).
