A brief history
Domaine Berrien Cellars, located in Berrien Springs, Michigan, is dedicated to creating high-quality wines from high-quality grapes. All the fruit that goes into our wine is grown and bottled on the estate. Blending cool-climate, estate fruit, with an emphasis on Rhone varietals is how we make some of the most acclaimed wines in Michigan. With Lake Michigan just six miles to the West, our estate is situated on glacier-carved hills with southern-facing slopes. Because of our location, our vineyard benefits from cooler winters and longer growing seasons. The glaciers responsible for creating the Great Lakes, have influenced our land with the tapestry of rich and diverse soil types that make up our vineyards today.
Our first commercial vintage was in 2001 with our oldest vines dating back to 1992. Today we grow over 21 unique varietals resulting in vibrant whites, ethereal reds, and lusciously sweet ice wines. While we specialize in high-quality wine, we want to make wine more approachable for everyone. We hope that Domaine Berrien wine finds its way onto your table. Cheers!
